Catherine Russo is Peter Russo's elderly widowed mother. She lives in a retirement home in South Philadelphia where she spends most of her day in bed watching television. She is shown being extremely unpleasant and very uninterested in her son and her grandchildren.
After learning of Peter's death she was said to have had a heart attack but no confirmation has come on whether she died, or not.
Peter's father, Arnold Russo was president of the ship builders guild and was said to be a self made millionaire helping Peter to gain his seat in congress,
After Peter's election to congress his father died and blew off most of his fortune within a few years of his death.
